COVID-19: Daily new cases continue to see downtrend with 4,979 cases

MALAYSIA continues to record a downward trend in daily COVID-19 cases, with 4,979 new cases reported on Sunday (Oct 31), compared to 5,854 cases the previous day (Saturday, Oct 30).

This brings the cumulative number of infections to 2,471,642.

In a statement, Dr Noor Hisham said that of the new cases, only 85 cases (1.7%) were in Categories three, four and five.

Category three refers to patients with pneumonia, Category four needs oxygen assistance and Category five requires respiratory assistance.

The remaining 4,894 cases (98.3%) were in categories one and two.

Meanwhile, according to the CovidNow website, 6,127 patients have recovered, bringing the total to 2,374,761.

There were 36 deaths, thus bringing the death tally to 28,912.

Of the current cases, 562 cases required treatment in intensive care units and 326 cases needed respiratory assistance. – Nov 1, 2021
