COVID-19: Death toll down to two-digits, more recoveries recorded

EARLIER today, Health Ministry’s CovidNow website indicated 78 deaths for yesterday, bringing total fatality to 27,191.

“Of the current active cases, 792 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 385 of them in need of ventilator support,” the site indicated.

As of yesterday, COVID-19 cases in the country dropped again as the authorities detected 9,751 infections, bringing the cumulative total to 2,323,478.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 12,724 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 2,170,289.

Selangor recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 1,796, followed by Sarawak (1,339), Kelantan (1,052) and Johor (864). – Oct 9, 2021
