COVID-19: Death toll surpass 6k mark, new infections stay above 9k

AS hospitals are getting overwhelmed, Malaysia recorded a daily infection rate of 9,353 cases today, bringing the cumulative total to 827,101.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 5,910 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 737,103.

“87 people have succumbed today, bringing the death tally to 6,067,” he added.

Selangor recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 4,277, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,398), Melaka (835) and Negeri Sembilan (638).

“Of the current active cases, 959 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 451 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – July 10, 2021
