COVID-19: Downward trend in new infections, active cases

THE Health Ministry (MOH) has reported 4,743 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 705,762.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that 5,557 patients have recovered from the infection, with the total discharged now stands at 639,181.

Currently, there are 62,027 active cases, in which 875 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 445 of them in need of ventilator support.

Dr Noor Hisham also announced that 77 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 4,554.

Meanwhile, Selangor tops the list with 1,566 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, followed by Kuala Lumpur (635) and Negeri Sembilan (585). – June 22, 2021
