COVID-19: Eight states with four-digit cases, more than 1,000 in ICU

MALAYSIA recorded 20,780 new cases today, thus bringing the cumulative total to 1,320,547.

In a tweet, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 17,973 patients have been cured, with the total discharge now standing at 1,075,816.

There were 211 deaths today, bringing the death tally to 11,373.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases at 6,921.

Seven other states also recorded four-digit cases – Kuala Lumpur (2,065 cases), Johor (1,693), Kedah (1,534), Sabah (1,514), Penang (1,385), Kelantan (1,284) and Negri Sembilan (1,015).

“Of the current active cases, 1,053patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 546 of them in need of ventilator support,” Dr Noor Hisham remarked. – Aug 11, 2021.
