COVID-19: Four-digit infection tally continues, Selangor the highest

THE COVID-19 cases in Malaysia continues its four-digit trend, with 1,153 new infection cases and one fatality recorded today.

In a statement today, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the nation recorded 998 recoveries, bringing the total recovery cases to 76,242.

“The number of total infections is at 91, 969. With one death today, the number of those who lost their lives to the coronavirus is now at 433,” he said.

Noor Hisham added that the deceased was a 76-year-old local woman, who passed away at Penang Hospital.

The lady suffered several pre-existing conditions such as high blood pressure and dyslipidemia (abnormal amount of lipids).

Five new clusters

On related matter, Selangor recorded the highest number of infections today, with 401 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (281) and Sabah (199).

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry detected fine new COVID-19 clusters in the nation, over the last 24 hours.

The clusters are Keris Residence and Brumas (Sabah), the Jalan Zuhrah construction site (Selangor), the Long Panji (Kelantan) and Jalan Timah (Johor).

“At the same time, three clusters officially ceased today, which are the Softwood LD (Sabah), Besi Demak (Sarawak) and Rajawali (Penang),” added Noor Hisham. – Dec 19, 2020.
