COVID-19: Highest daily tally at 5,728, 16 new clusters involving mostly work areas

THE Health Ministry announced that the nation reported the highest COVID-19 daily infections to date, with 5,728 new cases and 13 deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that there were 3,805 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 161,527.

“We have a total number of 209,661 infection cases as of now. Unfortunately, 13 people have lost their lives to the virus, bringing the total death toll to 746,” he added.

The new infection cases today involved 5,723 local infections and five imported ones.

Selangor still recorded the highest number of cases today with 3,285, followed by Johor (792) and Kuala Lumpur (480).

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has found a whopping 16 new clusters in the country.

Out of the 16, 13 are workplace clusters while the rest are community based.

“With that, we have 387 active clusters. Four clusters have ended today; which are Batu Tujuh, D’Bajaru, Jalan Broga construction site and Mador,” he remarked. – Jan 30, 2021.
