COVID-19: Infection rate breaches 2k mark, four deaths

THE Health Ministry today reported 2,188 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths as of today.

In a statement today, the ministry’s director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that 1,673 patients have recovered from the coronavirus as well.

“For now, the total cases of COVID-19 in the country is 58,847. The total recovery cases now stand at 44,153.

“With four deaths recorded today, the total number of those who have lost their lives to COVID-19 is now at 341,” he added.

Selangor alone recorded 1,623 cases, followed by Sabah (232) and Perak (112).

Noor Hisham said that all of the 2,188 cases were of local transmissions, with 1,511 or 93.1% of today’s total cases from the Teratai cluster in the state.

He added that most of the cases in Sabah (131) were detected through close contact screenings, while all 112 cases in Perak were from existing clusters. – Nov 24, 2020.
