COVID-19: Klang Valley recorded almost half of country’s total new infections

THE Health Ministry (MOH) has reported 6,045 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 778,652.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that 5,271 patients have recovered from the infection, with the total discharged now stands at 705,486.

He noted that out of the total new cases recorded, 6,025 cases were local transmissions.

Currently, there are 67,669 active cases, in which 917 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 443 of them in need of ventilator support.

Dr Noor Hisham also announced that 63 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 5,497.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases (2,262), followed by Kuala Lumpur (616) and Negeri Sembilan (531). – July 4, 2021
