COVID-19: Less than 10k new cases, second day in a row

MALAYSIA has logged 8,075 new COVID-19 infections on Monday (Oct 4), with the cumulative total number of infections now at 2,285,640.

This is the second day in a row that the country has reported less than 10,000 cases.

In a tweet, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 15,456 patients have recovered, with the total discharge now standing at 2,116,021.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, there were 76 deaths, bringing the death tally to 26,759.

Only Sarawak (1,189 cases) and Kelantan (1,020) have reported four-digit case increases.

Cases in other states are as follows: Penang (853), Johor (781), Selangor (686), Sabah (677), Terengganu (636), Kedah (628), Perak (548), Pahang (522), Melaka (219), Kuala Lumpur (151), Perlis (36), Putrajaya (19) and Labuan (two).

“Of the current active cases, 867 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 461 of them in need of ventilator support,” Noor Hisham remarked. – Oct 5, 2021.
