MALAYSIA hits a new worrying COVID-19 number today, with 2,335 infections and 11 new clusters detected.
In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said that two individuals lost their lives to the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
With the 2,335 new cases, the total number of infections in the country is now at 103,900.
“There were also 874 recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 83,414.
“Unfortunately, two people died due to the virus, bringing the total death tally to 451,” he said,
The two who passed away were locals, one aged 44 from Sabah and the other aged 70 from Malacca. Both suffered from pre-existing medical conditions.
In terms of infection cases, Kuala Lumpur surpassed Selangor by having 728 cases, Selangor (710), Johor (412) and Sabah (248).
On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that 11 new COVID-19 clusters have been detected in the last 24 hours.
The clusters are concentrated in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Selangor, Kelantan, Penang and Pahang.
“The biggest cluster is the Jalan Seng construction site in Kuala Lumpur, with 232 cases. The second one is Pagar Siput in Kota Tinggi, Johor,” he added. – Dec 26, 2020.
