COVID-19: New cases breach 5K threshold again, S’gor tops the list

AFTER some respite, COVID-19 seems to be making a comeback with new infections surging to 5,219 yesterday, as the Health Ministry (MOH) warns the public of two new sub-variants to the highly transmissible Omicron variant.

Of the number, 11 were imported while the rest are local transmissions.

Fatalities numbered at eight, with one being brought in dead (BID). Recoveries were at 2,927.

Sixty-four people are now warded at the intensive care unit while 44 are in need of ventilator support.

Selangor recorded the highest number of infections at 1,877, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,584), Perak (399) and Sabah (261). – July 16, 2022
