THE Health Ministry has reported 922 new daily COVID-19 cases yesterday (May 3), which brings the cumulative number of cases to 4,451,781.
This is the first time new daily cases has dropped below 1,000 since March 29 last year.
Of the 922 new cases, 921 are local cases while one other is imported.
The CovidNow portal also said that there were 5,520 recoveries on Tuesday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,384,384.
Another nine deaths attributed to COVID-19 were reported yesterday, with five brought in dead cases.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,564 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19.
Active cases currently stood at 31,834, down 64.9% compared to 14 days ago.
New cases according to states are as follows: Selangor (429), Kuala Lumpur (120), Penang (83), Negri Sembilan (58), Perak (41), Johor (35), Sarawak (31), Malacca (28), Putrajaya (26), Kedah (22), Pahang (19), Sabah (12), Terengganu (9), Kelantan (7), Perlis (1) and Labuan (1).
Of the current cases, 69 cases required treatment in intensive care units (ICU) and 46 cases needed respiratory assistance. – May 4, 2022
