COVID-19: New cases dip slightly, Selangor remains highest

THE Health Ministry (MOH) has reported 8,574 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 844,870.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that 5,041 patients have recovered from the infection, with the total discharged now stands at 747,338.

He noted that out of the total new cases recorded, 8,534 cases were local transmissions.

Currently, there are 91,272 active cases, in which 964 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 452 of them in need of ventilator support.

Noor Hisham also announced that 102 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 6,260.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases (4,308), followed by Negri Sembilan (794), and Kuala Lumpur (609). – July 12, 2021.
