MALAYSIA continues to log a downtrend in the number of COVID-19 infections on Wednesday (Sept 22) with 14,990 new cases, thus bringing the cumulative total to 2,142,924.
In a tweet, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 19,702 patients have recovered, with the total discharge now standing at 1,917,085.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, there were 487 deaths, bringing the death tally to 24,565.
Selangor regains top spot, recording 2,414 new infections, followed by Johor (1,880), Sarawak (1,712) and Kelantan (1,573).
“Of the current active cases, 1,114 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 615 of them in need of ventilator support,” Noor Hisham remarked. – Sept 23, 2021
