COVID-19: New cases stabilising, 2,239 on Monday

THE number of new COVID-19 cases experienced a decrease from the weekend, standing at 2,239 on Monday morning, bringing the country’s total number of cases to 4,478,112 since the pandemic began.

The number of COVID-19 deaths, however, is still low with only three casualties reported within the last 24 hours, one of which were brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 35,615.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 1,263 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the number to a total of 4,411,762 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak started.

The number of hospital beds being used around the country now stands at 59.9%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) at 56.3% capacity.

Currently, 45 people are being treated in ICUs, with a little over half of them (23) in need of ventilator support.

Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country is now at 30,735, with 96% of them (29,516) being subjected to home quarantine. – May 16, 2022
