COVID-19: New infections breach 9k mark, 98 people perish

AS the Government relented and announced a full lockdown beginning June 1, Malaysia recorded an alarming 9,020 new COVID-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative total to 558,534.

In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 5,527 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 479,666.

“Ninety-eight people have died today, bringing the death tally to 2,650,” he added.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases again (2,836), followed by Kelantan (907), Negeri Sembilan (898) and Kuala Lumpur (789).

“Of the current active cases, 844 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 430 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – May 29, 2021.
