COVID-19: New infections drop, death toll soars to 26

IN a brief respite, Malaysia recorded 3,733 cases today, bringing the cumulative total to 440,677.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 3,211 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 401,934.

“Twenty-six people have died today, bringing the death tally to 1,683,” he added.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases again (1,278), followed by Sarawak (454), Johor (365) and Kuala Lumpur (338).

“Of the current active cases, 416 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 216 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – May 9, 2021.
