COVID-19: New infections jump back to above 3k; recoveries less than 2k

THE Health Ministry has reported 3,288 COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement today, Health Ministry’s director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said that there were 1,929 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 198,495.

He also noted that 3,283 cases were local transmissions while the rest are imported infections. Out of the locally transmitted infections, 57.5% or 1,889 are Malaysians.

Meanwhile, the total confirmed cases as of Feb 9 stands at 251,604.

Currently, there are 52,186 active COVID-19 cases in the country while 285 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit (ICU) with 131 requiring ventilator support.

In the last 24 hours, the highest number of cases came from Selangor with 1,757 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur (408) and Johor (369). – Feb 10, 2021
