MALAYSIA has hit a record high of 21,668 new COVID-19 cases today, a slight spike from the previous highest day on record which was 20,889 on Aug 6.
This brings the country’s cumulative total to 1,342,215.
In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 17,687 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 1,093,503.
Meanwhile, 318 people have succumbed today, bringing the death tally to 11,691
Selangor recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 6,278 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,436), Kedah (2,143) and Sabah (2,052).
“Of the current active cases, 1,059 patients are still receiving treatment in intensive care units (ICUs), with 543 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – Aug 12, 2021.
