COVID-19: Over 1k people in ICU, death toll drops to 285

COVID-19 cases in the country dropped as the authorities detected 20,579 infections today, bringing the cumulative total to 1,706,089.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 20,845 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 1,422,005.

“Two-hundred and eighty-five people have died today, bringing the tally to 16,087,” he added.

Selangor recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 4,591, followed by Sabah (2,578), Sarawak (2,522) and Johor (1,852).

“Of the current active cases, 1,009 patients are still receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 477 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – Aug 29, 2021.
