MALAYSIA’S number of COVID-19 cases have risen to an all-time high, with the country recording 22,242 new infections today (Aug 18).
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah tweeted that this brought the cumulative number of cases in the country to 1,466,512.
He further announced that 19,680 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 1,198,726.
Meanwhile, 225 people have succumbed today, bringing the death tally to 13,302.
Selangor has once again recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 6,858, followed by Sabah with 2,413 cases, Penang (1,867) and Kedah (1,852).
“Of the current active cases, 1,060 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 540 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – Aug 18, 2021
