COVID-19: Recoveries beat new cases, infections drop sharply

COVID-19 cases in the country dropped as the authorities detected 16,073 infections today, bringing the cumulative total to 1,995,771.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that  24,813 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 1,746,526.

He did not indicate the death tall for today.

Sarawak recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 3,522, followed by Johor (2,030), Selangor (1,947) and Sabah (1,649).

“Of the current active cases, 1,312 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 968 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – Sept 13, 2021.
