COVID-19: Recoveries continue to surpass new infections but don’t celebrate yet

THE Health Ministry announced 1,529 new COVID-19 infections and eight deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that there were 2,076 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 294,034.

“We have a total number of 314,989 infection cases as of now. Unfortunately, eight people have lost their lives to the coronavirus, bringing the total death toll to 1,177,” he added.

Seven who perished were locals and the other was a foreigner.

Selangor detected the highest number of infections today at 726, followed by Sarawak (252) and Johor (120).

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected four new clusters in the country.

Three of them are workplace related and the one is community based.

“We have 467 active clusters, with nine clusters ended today. Three clusters that contributed to the high number of cases today are Industri Sungai Gadut (51), Industri Subang (36) and Kebun Baru (22),” he remarked. – March 8, 2021.
