COVID-19: Recoveries surpass new cases but fatalities still unabating

COVID-19 cases in the country dropped as the authorities detected 19,057 infections today, bringing the cumulative total to 1,824,439.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 21,582 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 1,550,254.

“Three-hundred and sixty-two people have died today, bringing the tally to 17,883,” he added.

Selangor recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 3,775, followed by Sarawak (2,723), Sabah (2,279) and Johor (2,077).

“Of the current active cases, 978 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 460 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – Sept 4, 2021.
