COVID-19: Recoveries surpass new cases, S’wak records highest death tally

EARLIER today, the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website indicated 78 deaths for yesterday, bringing the total fatality count to 28,312.

“Of the current active cases, 643 patients are still in receiving treatment in intensive care units (ICUs), with 320 of them in need of ventilator support,” the site indicated.

As of yesterday, COVID-19 cases in the country dropped to 6,630 infections, bringing the cumulative total to 2,420,222.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 7,630 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 2,311,213.

Sarawak recorded the highest death toll with 17 deaths, followed by Perak (11), Selangor (11) and Penang (10). – Oct 23, 2021.
