COVID-19: Sarawak continues to record highest number of infections

MALAYSIA continues to log a downtrend in the number of COVID-19 infections on Tuesday (Sept 7) with 18,547 new cases, thus bringing the cumulative total to 1,880,734.

In a tweet, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 18,902 patients have been cured, with the total discharge now standing at 1,609,930.

There were 311 deaths today, bringing the death tally to 18,802.

Sarawak recorded the highest number of cases (3,200), surpassing Selangor which had 2,407 cases. This is followed by Johor (2,174), and Sabah (2,107).

“Of the current active cases, 977 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 447 of them in need of ventilator support,” Noor Hisham remarked. – Sept 7, 2021.
