COVID-19: Sarawak overtakes Selangor as state with most infections

MALAYSIA continues to record a downtrend in the number of COVID-19 infections on Monday (Sept 6) with 17,352 new cases, thus bringing the cumulative total to 1,862,187.

In a tweet, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 20,201 patients have been cured, with the total discharge now standing at 1,591,028.

There were 272 deaths today, bringing the death tally to 28,491.

Sarawak recorded the highest number of cases with 3,714, surpassing Selangor which had 2,126 cases. This is followed by Johor (2,101), Sabah (1,844) and Kedah (1,599).

“Of the current active cases, 975 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 435 of them in need of ventilator support,” Noor Hisham remarked. – Sept 6, 2021.
