THE Health Ministry has reported 4,284 COVID-19 cases and 18 deaths in the past 24 hours.
In a statement today, Health Ministry’s director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said that there were 3,804 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 177,794.
He also noted that 4,278 cases were local transmissions while the rest are imported infections. In addition, out of 4,278 locally transmitted cases, 61.2% or 2,618 of them were locals and 1,658 were foreigners.
“For now, the total number of infections stands at 226,912. Unfortunately, 18 people have lost their lives to the virus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 809,” he said.
Currently, there are 307 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit (ICU) with 141 requiring ventilator support.
Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases with 1,572 infections, followed by Johor (964) and Kuala Lumpur (651). – Feb 3, 2021
