COVID-19: Sharp decline in new cases, less than 1k in S’gor

MALAYSIA has logged 10,959 new COVID-19 infections on Monday (Sept 27), with the cumulative total number of infections now at 2,209,194.

In a tweet, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 16,430 patients have recovered, with the total discharge now standing at 2,005,939.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, there were 258 deaths, bringing the death tally to 25,695.

Sarawak and Johor are the only states to record four-digit increases at 2,723 cases and 1,226 cases respectively.

Selangor, meanwhile, recorded 979 new cases.

“Of the current active cases, 978 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 576 of them in need of ventilator support,” Noor Hisham remarked. – Sept 28, 2021.
