COVID-19: Surge in Kelantan cases, more workplace clusters detected

THE Health Ministry announced 1,510 new COVID-19 infections and eight deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that there were 1,248 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 342,737.

“We have a total number of 359,117 infection cases as of now. Unfortunately, eight people have lost their lives to the coronavirus, bringing the total death toll to 1,321,” he added.

All those who lost their lives were Malaysians.

Selangor detected the highest number of infections today at 415, followed by Sarawak (296) and Kelantan (171).

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected nine new clusters in the country.

Six of them are workplace related and the rest are community based.

“With that, we have 343 active clusters. Eight clusters have ended today. Three clusters that contributed to the high number of cases today are Sungai Kluang Empat (30), Rich Park (28) and Kampung Belaoh (24),” he remarked. – April 10, 2021.
