COVID-19: S’wak records over 3k cases for the first time, over 18k dead so far

COVID-19 cases in the country rose slightly from yesterday as the authorities detected 20,396 infections today, bringing the cumulative total to 1,844,835.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 20,573 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 1,570,827.

“Three-hundred and thirty-six people have died today, bringing the tally to 18,219,” he added.

Selangor recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 3,886, followed by Sarawak (3,747), Johor (2,165) and Sabah (2,136).

“Of the current active cases, 959 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 436 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – Sept 5, 2021.
