NOW how many Malaysians can enjoy the privilege of eating a steak that costs as much as the down payment of a house?
Personally, we can only wonder how the heck a steak could cost so much in the first place.
In a video post on X, the mystery is immediately revealed for the meat was coated by a layer of gold foil.
On top of that, the customer is entertained by the knife work of none other than Salt Bae, a Turkish butcher and chef who rose to fame due to his flashy antics of sprinkling salt on the meat.

According to the netizen who shared the video, the entire meal costs a whopping RM13,000, an amount sufficient to feed a small family for months.
To think that such an amount could be expended on a brief dinner, is either luxury of the highest order or waste. Many netizens who followed the story, however, were unimpressed.
M Haris Hamdan said that based on the hadith, it is forbidden for both men and women to eat and drink from vessels made of gold and silver, let alone consume the gold itself. Therefore, eating it is forbidden.
One netizen suggested that instead of paying at an eatery that costs RM13k, it is best to give the money over to her.
“I can pay the bill to rescue cats or to castrate the strays. This is more worth it,” she said.
TytoSalji claimed he had went there before. “It is overrated and not delicious. If you want to enjoy eating meat, find the Kobe beef or halal wagyu yakiniku at Japan,” he said.
Lohong Minda observed that the diner in the video appeared to have lost his turban when it was time for him to make payment.
Then there was ArifRaj who wondered if the restaurant accepted payment in atome, alluding to the steep cost involved. Note that atome allows the customer to make payment at a later date.
Another netizen said this is the definition of having a lot of money and not knowing what to do with it.
The price tag of RM13,000 certainly got us thinking about all the amazing things we could do with the money.
But the financially literate never forget that money is never wasted, but merely redistributed, from the foolish to the smart. —Nov 25, 2024
