FORMER finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin who was recently hospitalised has been discharged and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki announced that Daim is likely to face charges in court next week.
According to Azam, Daim’s lawyer conveyed the information to the MACC investigating officer overseeing the case earlier today.
“His lawyer has communicated with my IO (investigating officer) that Daim was already discharged from hospital. From what I understand, he was discharged earlier today.
“Now the IO is in communication with Daim’s lawyer to set a date for his day in court. Most likely it will be next week,” Malaysiakini quoted Azam as saying.

The MACC chief commissioner also mentioned that once the court date is finalised, the media will be duly informed.
Responding to inquiries about the reason for Daim’s hospitalisation and its impact on the prosecution timeline, Azam replied in the negative. However, he noted that the crucial development now is the ability to set a date for the court case. – Jan 25, 2023
