NOT once but for the fourth time since their establishment, the Centre Stage Dance Studio (CSDS) and Stephy Dance Group have come together recently to stage a large-scale dance charity performance to sow the seeds of love through the CSDS Arabian & Bollywood Charity Night 2023 event.
The mystical dance event was choreographed in a manner that the ultimate aim of the gala dinner evening was to express love through dance while bringing about positive reforms to society through the power of dance.
In the words of organising committee chairperson Datuk Low Pit Koon, the spirit of the evening was centred on relating stories of people in need and evoking compassion and kindness.
“We want to start them small by teaching children the values of practice public welfare and giving back to the community,” shared the founder of Stephy Dance Group. “We were overwhelmed by the encouraging response that although we originally planned to have only 30 tables, the size eventually grew to 45 tables.”
Apart from Low, attendees at the event included Staeron Low who is the organising committee’s general secretary and CSDS president, and fellow committee members Angelyn Nga, Jennifer Soon and some local celebrities.
Added Low: Kind-hearted people from all over Malaysia – including Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor and Penang – attended our gala dinner. The atmosphere was very lively.”
At the end of the day, the fund-raising dinner which was the highlight of the evening kicked off a under the background of singing and dancing, and successfully raised RM8,000 for the Kajang Leshan Children’s Disabled Welfare Centre and RM2,000 for the Filial Elderly Welfare and Shelter Association.
In addition to arranging dance performances, the charity event also ingeniously set up a dance floor in the centre of the banquet. Amid the sound of dynamic music and dazzling lights, a high-level stage was set up so that all attendees could join in the dance.
“Overall, it was a memorable evening with the light footsteps of the dancers as they dance to the dynamic music luring the audience to involuntarily follow the rhythm,” exclaimed Low, paying tribute to CSDS’ founder Staeron Low for his personal support of the charity event.
Founded in 2006, CSDS is currently the biggest dance centre in Kajang, boasting four dancing studios, art room, study room, piano room, costume room, changing room and shower room, among others. – June 17, 2023
