DAP’s Rara mocked for chastising vandalism act on Bentong Hindu temple, defending non-Muslim faith

DAP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) member Young Syefura Othman has been slammed by her brethren for her swiftness in defending non-Muslim faiths after she lambasted the heinous act of vandalism of statues and structures at a Hindu Temple in Bukit Tinggi, Bentong.

This is despite the Bentong MP who is also known by the moniker Rara having made to understand that the house of worship did not have a construction permit from the local authority nor an activity permit from the Pahang State Non-Muslim House of Worship Committee.

“However, the act of damaging any house of worship or vandalism is completely unacceptable,” the National DAP assistant publicity secretary penned in a media statement.

“It’s an extreme act that has the potential to threaten the harmony and peace of the multi-racial community, especially in Bentong.”

For context, the incident at the Bukit Brahmarishi Temple was discovered on Saturday (Aug 15) around 10:30am, according to a X post by UpdateInfo🇲🇾🌍(@update11111).

The cops have thus far received three reports lodged by a 49-year-old security guard, a 45-year-old monk and a 41-year-old man, according to Pahang acting police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob.

“The police have gone to the scene and initial investigations found that there were no closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed in the temple area nor were there independent witnesses who saw the incident,” he had pointed out in a statement on Monday (Aug 17).

Editor’s Note: Apparently, NGO the Malaysia Tamilar Munetra Kalagam (NGO) has staged a public protest against the act of vandalism on the Hindu temple in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur on Monday (Aug 17) evening.

Despisable feedback aplenty

As expected, the DAP Pahang state vice-chairperson who is also one of three Muslim DAP lawmakers was mocked for championing non-Muslim cause especially given the so-called “kuil haram revolt” by the ultra-rightist fraternity has yet to die down.

“So who do you want to be arrested first, YB? The one who trespassed or the one who committed the vandalism?” asked a commenter cynically with another accusing the temple management of indulging in a self-sabotage act.

“You erected the temple, demolished it, then lodged police report – all by yourself – and lastly get compensated with a replacement land.”

One commenter even rebuked Rara with her own insinuation that the temple had been illegally erected.

“It should then be demolished just like any other illegal buildings. What action will be taken against such land encroachers? Can a TEMPLE be used as an excuse to encroach on land?”

However, the DAP women’s wing vice-chief were subject to harsher and even more derogatory tongue lashing for her latest stance in denouncing the vandalism act on the Bukit Brahmarishi Temple as gauged from FB posts of her statement by the Malay language TV Pertiwi and The Reporter.

“This is the reason why Malays are so fed up (with Muslim DAP lawmakers) …When their own religion is disturbed, they don’t speak out …As for other religions, they’ll swiftly issue statements,” jibed one commenter.

“But we’ve to accept it because those races are her voters/supporters … she has to be smart to survive …”

Elsewhere, Rara found herself bombarded with accusations of being “a DAP lap*og” – an act of betrayal to her own race and religion while facilitating DAP to tighten its grip om the Madani government.

Worse of all, she is also likened as “the human version of canine Rocky who is loyal to non-Muslims with Islam probably only stated on her IC (identity card)”. – Aug 18, 2026
