DATASONIC Group Bhd has announced the retirement of Datuk Abu Hanifah Noordin (pic, above) as managing director and chief executive officer effective Jan 31. Hanifah will be succeeded by Datuk Razali Mohd Yusof (pic, left) as managing director with immediate effect.
“It is timely for others to helm and lead Datasonic to greater heights. New frontiers require new ideas and efforts, and those with youth and vigour will be able to chart a more innovative path befitting the group’s growth amidst disruption and rapid change,” said Hanifah in his retirement note.
Hanifah founded Datasonic and led the group to a listing in 2012. He had served as chairman and managing partner of Ernst & Young for nine years, and also as the president of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants for 13 years.
His successor, Razali, comes from a background of mining and oil & gas, with over 30 years of corporate experience in those industries. Razali also held key roles in a number of private and multinational companies in Malaysia, and holds directorships in a number of local companies.
He currently serves as an independent non-executive director of Marine & General Bhd, chairman of Intralink Resources Sdn Bhd, managing director of both Intralink Properties Sdn Bhd and Urban Terrace Sdn Bhd, and is also a director of Bagus Tioman Sdn Bhd.
Datasonic has also affirmed its focus on further development of its technical competitive advantage via technology adoption especially in artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.
The counter closed at RM1.46 on Jan 31, down 11 sen, with 26.55 million shares changing hands. – Jan 31, 2020
