DATUM:KL, ARCHIDEX & KLAF elevate in ‘The New Normal’

ARCHIDEX, Asia’s leading architecture business event for the architecture, interior design and building industry, is back. This trade exhibition will happen concurrently with an exciting line-up of conferences, forums, talks, product launches and business networking events.

A key highlight is DATUM:KL, with its power-packed presentations of selected international and local architects taking to stage to present their works to a captive audience.

“Just being here is a powerful testament to our determination to rebuild stronger together. ARCHIDEX is a big step for each of us to bring our beloved industry into the future with focus, strength and determination,” said C.I.S president Datuk Vincent Lim.

Lim is also the president of Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Association (AFECA).

ARCHIDEX targets architects, interior designers, building industry professionals as well as foreign delegates, trade buyers and industry specifiers.

This year’s ARCHIDEX will adopt a hybrid concept in which the exhibition will be held alongside an engaging and immersive online format achieved via ARCHIDEX Online, its official digital platform. The physical exhibition will run from June 29 to July 2, 2022.

Among the illustrious speakers for DATUM:KL Conferences that is held concurrently with ARCHIDEX this year are:

  • Vo Trong Nghia from Vietnam;
  • Arief Rabik from Indonesia;
  • Akshay Heranjal of Purple Ink Studio, India;
  • Yann Follain and Jonathan Poh of WY-TO Group, Singapore;
  • Patcharada Inplang, Shermaker Studio from Thailand; and
  • Masyerin Mohamad Nor of Domaine Architects Malaysia.

Some 400 exhibitors participating in the four-day trade exhibition will make this platform truly interactive, showcasing the leading trends and breakthroughs in the industry while providing opportunities to promote products.

Assoc. Prof. (Ind.) Ar. Sarly Arde Sarkum who is also the president of Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) believes that after a spell of absence for two years brought about by the pandemic, things will return on an even keel.

“I believe that the architectural community will relish the ability to once again congregate at both DATUM:KL and ARCHIDEX,” he told FocusM.

“These events have not only become a design and technical highlight but are a sort of social reunion for many in the profession and in the industry.”

He further shared that this year’s theme – “Mindshaping for the Future” – is relevant for architects because they are in a profession “concerned with ideas and the creation of ideas”.

And, by way of reason, he opined that “great buildings and cities are birthed from the convolution of these many ideas” while the crucible of an idea “lies with the mind”.

Adding further pizazz to ARCHIDEX and DATUM:KL is the design spin-off in the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF).

“The future well-being of the nation lies in its creative energy as natural resources diminish,” said KLAF 2022 director Dr Lim Teng Ngiom.

This requires a collective mind-shift to “move bravely from what is familiar and common towards a future led by invention and innovation”, he shared.

While the past gives us identity, hope lies with the future, he reasoned.

“‘Mindshaping for the Future’ is what we will do collectively starting with KLAF 2022.”

ARCHIDEX 2022, jointly organised by PAM and C.I.S, will be held from June 29 to July 2, 2022 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre with its DATUM:KL Conferences running concurrently.

ARCHIDEX Online, its digital platform will be going live from June 29, 2022 onwards. Registration is required for entry. For more information, please visit https://ARCHIDEX.com.my/. – June 23, 2022
