Dell Technologies continue to make real progress & positive social impact

FROM its commitment to drive real change in Malaysia, Dell Technologies presented its Progress Made Real grant to the Women’s Centre for Change (WCC) for the second consecutive year, in hopes to aid WCC’s efforts in supporting and empowering women, children and communities.

Last year, the non-profit organisation WCC received its first Dell Technologies Progress Made Real grant which was utilised to digitally transform the organisation, enabling it to expand its reach and impact nationwide.

With its goal to create an inclusive society free from gender violence and discrimination as well as empowering women through education and advocacy, WCC plans to use the new grant to establish programmes on digital literacy, life skills and entrepreneurship for approximately 110,00 women and young adults.

“WCC is one of the nearly 60 non-profit partners that Dell Technologies works with in more than a dozen countries worldwide and combined, we have helped 2.6 million people gain better access to technology and 21st-century skills.

“With WCC, we are part of an ecosystem committed to delivering equitable access to tools, skills and resources needed to drive change and create opportunities for underserved communities in Malaysia,” said Dell Technologies Women in Action Malaysia Chapter Lead Teoh Ean Na.

Meanwhile, Dell Technologies senior vide president (South Asia) and managing director (Malaysia) Pang Yee Beng commented: “Our work with organisations like WCC and on our own platform, demonstrates purposeful action on our part to drive Malaysia towards its vision of becoming an advanced and digitally inclusive economy – transforming the nation one life at a time.”

To date, Dell Technologies has taken its social impact efforts a giant step forward through its Progress Made Real 2030 plan, which outlines the company’s goals over this decade, including:

  • Helping 1,000 non-profits around the world digitally transform by 2030 to better meet the needs of their communities.
  • Achieve 50% of the global workforce and 40% of global leaders who identify as women by 2030.
  • Source 75% of electricity from renewable sources across all Dell Technologies facilities by 2030 (100% by 2040) and a goal of reaching net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. In June 2021, Dell Technologies implemented its largest on-site solar panel installation globally at the Dell Technologies Asia Pacific Customer Centre (APCC2) in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. The installation will power more than 25% of the production lines at the 24-hour facility, and is expected to reduce the facility’s annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by about 650 metric tonnes. – Dec 11, 2021
