Demo Rakyat fails to garner support online

DEMI Negara Movement leader Aidil Yunus said protests against Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will continue if demands are not satisfied.

The group gave 30 days for the PM to respond to the demands voiced in the ‘People’s Demonstration Against Anwar’ rally held yesterday (June 29) in front of the PM’s residence in Putrajaya.

Anwar, who came to power thanks to his backing of massive demonstrations in the country against the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) governments, is now getting a taste of his own medicine.

But, unlike the Pakatan Harapan (PH) demonstrations in the past, the pro-Perikatan Nasional (PN) rally failed to garner support online, with netizens on X attacking the organisers instead.

Yesterday, participants at a rally called for Anwar to step down, chanting slogans against him and BlackRock.

The rally by the Demi Negara movement, despite police warnings, included lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali and Bersatu members.

Organiser Aidil Yunus stated their demands: halting the RON95 petrol price increase, addressing the local rice shortage, tackling post-COVID-19 issues, addressing the rising cost of living, protecting public healthcare staff, ensuring fair wages, upholding free speech, and maintaining economic sovereignty. – June 30, 2024
