Despite pandemic, “Jom Cuti-Cuti Malaysia” makes a comeback

TOURISM Malaysia, in association with the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and Shopee Malaysia, have inked a strategic partnership for the Jom Cuti-Cuti Malaysia! Experience Malaysia Like Never Before campaign.

The campaign is aimed at reviving the tourism supply chain economy and is part of the Government recovery plan under its massive RM350 bil stimulus packages. It kicks off today until March 31 next year.

Under the campaign, tourists will get to redeem an e-voucher of RM50 with a minimum three-days two-nights stay at one- to three-star hotels, or an e-voucher of RM100 with a minimum three-days two-nights stay at a four- to five-star hotels across the country.

However, the e-voucher is only valid for Malaysians and is for one-time use only on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Payment can be made via ShopeePay, debit card or credit card. The first 18,750 early-birds who successfully purchase their stay will enjoy an additional RM20 shopping voucher to continue shopping online.

Touching on the campaign, Shopee regional managing director Ian Ho said that both Tourism Malaysia and MAH have been tasked to revive the tourism industry which is ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“And Shopee is doing all we can to help the associations and hoteliers. Therefore, we will be waiving off all commissions and transaction charges on our platform for this campaign.

“Along with the attractive e-vouchers from the Government, we believe the hoteliers will be poised for a steady recovery,” he said.

MAH CEO Yap Lip Seng said that Malaysians should take advantage of the e-vouchers and enjoy a getaway.

“We have more than 400 hotels – from one- to five-stars – across Malaysia are offering special room rates.

“This is an opportunity not to be missed to secure your dream Cuti-Cuti Malaysia getaway, and sow a seed of hope for the hotel industry that has been impacted by the pandemic,” he added.

Touching on the campaign, Tourism Malaysia director-general Zulkifly Md said: “The scheme is aimed to entice Malaysians to travel locally and support our hotels to generate revenue and sustain businesses.

“The minute Malaysians travel, they create the spill-over effect that will revive our national economy.”
