Detractors troll PH over truth in “Malaysia Belongs to Us All” slogan, “Type M” face missing in billboard

A TikTok post of a billboard in Penang depicting the faces of four Pakatan Harapan (PH)-DAP leaders has come under fire from nationalistic keyboard warriors who question the authenticity of its Malaysia Milik Kita Bersama slogan and the missing of “Malay faces” in it.

The four PH leaders are DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng; Penang chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow; two-term Jelutong MP RSN Rayer; and three-term Sungai Pinang state assemblywoman Lim Siew Khim.

“Think about it. If you are not fluent in Malay, what then is your rationale for claiming that ‘Malaysia Belongs to Us All’?” berated social media influencer Ronin Malaya (@RoninMalaya) in a post on the X platform.

“This homeland still has its MASTER and does not belong to you. You were given citizenship because we had to.”

To prove his point, Ronin Malaya accompanied a short video of an elderly Chinese man who was not fluent in the Malay language till a Malay staff has to explain some procedures to him in Mandarin.

He further asserted a statement presumably attributed to the late prominent historian Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Khoo Kay Kim that “the Malays are made to share citizenship with the Chinese and Indians who were brought into Tanah Melayu (Malaya) by the British”.

Thankfully, Ronin Malaya did not get far with his racist antic as few Malay netizens chided him for his ignorance that there was no “Type M” face in the billboard because coincidentally there was no Malay MP and/or state assemblyman in the supposedly Jelutong parliamentary constituency.

Above all else, his disgruntlement borders 3R (race, religion, royalty) breaches which prompted one commentator to even extended his post to the police.

In another similar social media post by opposition-slant Ay 🇲🇾 🇵🇸 (@saythenameay), many netizens also rebutted the poster for being provocative as well as for her ignorance with her one-liner text of “is there a hidden meaning in the slogan”.

At the end of the day, a netizen concluded that regardless of “Type C” rules Penang, the interests of the Malays/Muslims are well-taken care of as evident by efforts to preserve and develop the Islamic faith. – July 2, 2024
