Detractors troll PMX, ask if his most cherished ‘Cuci Rasuah’ Merdeka dance is targeted at DPM Zahid

WHILE he described the Cuci Rasuah (literally “Wash Corruption”) dance performed at the 2024 National Day Celebration at Dataran Putrajaya yesterday (Aug 31) as the best Merdeka Day performance this year, curiosity abounds if Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim knows that the dance can be interpreted in 1,001 ways.

“What does cuci rasuah even mean? Wash corruption?” wondered senior journalist Zakiah Koya in a Facebook post.

“Money laundering? Bringing cleaning brushes and dustbins to a Merdeka parade is distasteful when a country is celebrating (its National Day).”

Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary Dr Afif Bahardin took a swipe at the Madani administration by suggesting if the dance is intended to taunt his deputy Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) from all 47 charges of criminal breach of trust, corruption and money laundering in relation to the Yayasan Akalbudi funds.

“Clean up corruption by dropping prima facie corruption cases the @anwaribrahim style!” he penned on the X platform. “The joget2 (dance) holding a broom is merely a High School Musical story 🤣🤣🤣.”

Social media influencer ALAN (@IniAlalalannn) described as hilarious for the Cuci Rasuah dance to be performed in front of Zahid who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister and UMNO president.

“Aiyoo …performing the Cuci Rasuah dance in front of people who have a corruption case … one can feel the second-hand embarrassment that reaches Kulim,” teased the digital creator.

Gamester kc #pma (@asdfghjKhairin) laughed his heart out that “there is a Cuci Rasuah song played in front of Zahid before GTA6 (Grand Theft Auto VI which is an upcoming action-adventure game in development by Rockstar Games)”.

Opposition-slant keyboard warrior 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐤 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 🇲🇾✨✨(@RichardPower_) wondered if Anwar intends “to clean corruption, thus making corruption legal (halal)”.

“Little wonder you once said you wanted to imprison Zahid but now you’ve promoted him to be DPM. Isn’t this normalising prima facie corruption involving 47 cases?” berated the cybertrooper 48 hours prior during the Merdeka Day rehearsal session.

However, pro-Madani backers hit back at Encik Richard for his shallow understanding of the hidden motive or agenda behind the dance which is to eradicate corruption at all levels of the society.

Or even the PAS president Tan Sri Hadi Awang had during the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration days attempted to circumvent the issue of corruption with the excuse of “public charity”. – Sept 1, 2024
