IN 2018, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook expressed his birthday wish for a change in the Malaysian government.
Despite scepticism from the MCA, his wish came true as the Pakatan Harapan (PH) defeated the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the general elections, with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad assuming the role of prime minister.
Fast forward five years, and Loke is celebrating his birthday once again, but this time as a Transport Minister under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government.
While the PH government faced collapse in 2020, resulting in Loke’s return to the opposition, it is worth noting that the 2018 regime change did bring about a significant shift in Malaysian politics.
The DAP, in a Twitter post yesterday (April 28) wished Anthony a happy birthday.
Wishing a very happy birthday to DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke today!
Did you know Anthony joined DAP at just 17-years-old, right after his SPM examinations? pic.twitter.com/5Gq5oZgtf0
