Digitalisation of art

By Aqalili Azizan

The Aliya and Farouk Khan (AFK) Collection introduced a digitised version of the complete collection, embracing the next step in a long-term vision of engagement for the contemporary arts through technology.

Digitised and accessible in its entirety, The AFK Collection serves as a repository of visual and intellectual information; enshrining provenance and providing a resource for knowledge, research and discourse. Seminal artwork by a variety of artists with the profiles is available to audiences both locally and internationally.

The platform also provides unparalleled access to the collection and presents a unique opportunity for international audiences to engage with Malaysian culture. Similarly, the platform opens the door for artists, artworks and the wider Malaysian art community to be a part of global conversations.

“In digitising The AFK Collection, we wanted to showcase the extraordinary standard of local artists and their works, as well as bring international recognition to the exceptional value of Malaysia’s dynamic contemporary art industry.

Through this process, we hope to create greater awareness, encourage thoughtful discussion, inspire analytical writing and spur more research initiatives. These elements are essential for the continued growth and development of Malaysia’s art ecosystem,” explained Farouk Khan.
