BOYS and their toys – be it cars, guitars or whatever else it may be, the collection inevitably gets larger.
A recent post on Facebook by emergency medicine specialist Leong Keen Wai seems to confirm just that.
His passion lies in learning the ability to manoeuvre all manner of bikes, cars and trucks, and he has an impressive collection of licenses to prove that he is apt in handling all those vehicles.
The former emergency physician at Hospital Putrajaya stated that he first started by learning to drive ambulances to respond to emergencies. This soon graduated to the hospital’s lorry which ferried equipment for natural disaster relief efforts.
Having collected Class B, C, D, E, H, I licenses alongside various licenses for Public Service and Goods Delivery vehicles, Leong now aspired to obtain licenses to operate tower cranes, land trains and helicopters!
He readily admits that boys never grow up, only their toys get bigger.
Leong’s Facebook post has gone viral by having generated over 9.1K likes, 1.5K comments and 4.3K shares with many applauding his tenacity and single-mindedness.
Some teased that his licenses would allow him to seek better paying jobs than a healthcare professional, alluding to the likelihood of him practicsing medicine only part-time.
Some wondered just what other licenses Leong could possibly pursue next.
Some wondered how much the renewal of these licenses would cost.
Interestingly, the poster has further offered his expertise on how to offer first aid and basic life support to accident victims while tagging Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook.
Given his unique skills set, perhaps he is even qualified to be the minister himself!
As one netizen put it, he is truly king of land vehicles.
Or as another netizen put it, Leong is merely living out his childhood dreams. – Feb 24, 2025
