NETIZENS are staunchly standing by embattled Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh following the dissemination of a family-of-four photograph of the DAP Segambut MP, her husband Ramachandran Muniandy and her parents-in-law with a sarcastic one-liner which reads “Appa and Amma invested in the right daughter-in-law”.

The damning post by opposition-slant Naratif Rakyat 🇲🇾 (@NaratifRakyat) was greeted with disgust by supposedly fans of the former Selangor state assembly speaker and pro-Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters with one netizen having forwarded the post to “@PDRMsia” and “@MCMC_RASMI” for further action.
Few netizens ticked off Naratif Rakyat for training his guns at Yeoh’s parents-in-law who has nothing to do with their son’s business deal – specifically, the awarding of the direct response transit system (DRT) project by the Selangor state government to Asian Mobility Technologies Sdn Bhd in which Ramachandran is the co-founder and CEO.
More netizens chastised the poster for his inconsiderate action with one warning him that poking fun/show disrespect for parents runs foul to the Malay culture.
Nevertheless, the same post which also makes its rounds in the Malaysian Chinese News Facebook page attracted more detractors who are seemingly more alert about the concept of cronyism, favouritism and nepotism.
This is judging by a comment by a sympathiser who opposed the attack on Yeoh and family but only to be schooled by fellow netizens. – June 2, 2024
