Don’t look at Anwar as a symbol of sympathy to give him PM-ship, urges NGO

DON’T look at Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as symbol to give him the Prime Minister’s position, urged Malaysian Indian Voice founder Pappa Raidu Veraman.

“We desperately need him to help the country’s political stability, economy and future,” he said in a statement today.

“Some said that Anwar was in the prison as a political detainee for decades so we need to consider him for this round.

“This might be your view but remember that we are in a critical situation whereby the COVID-19 pandemic period is a significant problem for everyone thanks to the unclear standard operating procedures put into place by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration.”

According to Pappa Raidu, Anwar should be Prime Minister because:

  1. The previous general election (GE14) was won under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) banner and therefore the baton should rightfully be passed to Anwar by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the beginning.
  2. Anwar’s achievements when he was Deputy Prime Minister was imponderable and world leaders had lauded him for his contributions to the country’s economy. He should therefore be given the trust to restore the economy accordingly.
  3. The country has less than two years left before GE15, and therefore Anwar must be given the opportunity to prove his capability to the country and the people who nominated him in the last general election.

“By doing this, we are indirectly giving back the mandate to rakyat and PH.

“As Malaysians, we should also stand with Anwar and show our support for him to take charge of the Prime Minister’s Office for a better Malaysia,” Pappa Raidu commented. – Aug 19, 2021.
