“Don’t trivialise sexual harassment cases!”: Netizens lash out at Annuar Musa

THE public took to social media to hurl brickbats at Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa for downplaying sexual harassment allegations in the entertainment industry.

(When it comes to one’s dignity, no issue is small. Don’t trivialise people’s complaints especially those coming from women)

Earlier today, Mingguan Malaysia reported Annuar as urging entertainment industry players not to make a fuss about sexual harassment allegations in the sector.

He said that entertainment industry players should be focussed on positive aspects of the sector, rather than highlighting sexual harassment claims.

“I feel the issue need not be hyped. Focus on the positive maters than isolated cases, the Ketereh MP was reported saying.

Recently, several senior artistes such as actor-director Shahili Abdan (Namron) and Sharifah Amani have claimed that sexual harassment is quite prevalent in the entertainment industry, affecting both men and women.

Persatuan Seniman Negara president Zed Zaidi had said that his organisation had not received any complaints on the matter so far probably due to fear but stressed the need for victims to come forward so that action can be taken against the perpetrators.

Ketereh MP is an imbecile

On that note, user Mercy Beau Cul said that when powerful people like Annuar downplay such matters, it sends a message to the perpetrators that it was alright to continue with their heinous act.

(This Annuar Musa is confirmed a fool. You need to act on sexual harassment cases, not sweep it under the carpet. Well, what does he care? People in Ketereh will still vote for him) – Nov 21, 2021.
