DPM Fadillah gets down to work at Ministry Plantation and Commodity

DEPUTY Prime Minister (DPM)-cum-Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has officially clocked in to begin his duty at the Ministry of Plantation and Commodity (MPIC) in Precinct 2, Putrajaya at 8.30am today.

His time recorder card scanning session was witnessed by the ministry’s deputy secretary-general (plantation and commodities) Mad Zaidi Mohd Karli; senior division secretary (strategic planning and international division) Pubadi Govindasamy and head of corporate communications Nor Ratna Sridewi Mokhtar.

Fadillah also attended the first meeting with the MPIC’s top management. In his speech, he called on all parties, especially civil servants, to play their respective roles effectively to improve the nation’s commodity sector while at the same time bridges the development gap between the peninsular and East Malaysia.

In view of concerns that the global economic crisis next year will pose a challenge to the country, Fadillah has emphasised that MPIC should play a vital role by striving to make a major contribution to Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP) figure.

He took his oath of office before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah at the Istana Negara yesterday (Dec 3) during the issuance of letter of appointment ceremony which also saw the 28 Cabinet ministers in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government taking their oath of secrecy.

A former senior minister of public works in the previous government of Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Fadillah who hails from Sarawak has been the Petrajaya MP for four consecutive terms since 2004. – Dec 5, 2022
